The Green

In short: The Green is a free game. You play the game of the day, walk, vote in the image contest, and earn greens. 100 greens fund the removal of a plastic bottle from the ocean and give you a ticket for the monthly draw.

How to earn greens

• The game of the day: replay as often as you like, only your best game of the day counts.
• Your steps: 1,000 steps = 1 green, up to 10,000 steps a day. They are counted in the phone app, with Apple Health or Health Connect.
• Today's contest: one vote a day, which earns you a green. The image with the most hearts at midnight wins greens.
• A day brings 20 greens at most, all ways of playing together.

Fund a bottle and get a ticket

1. Go to thegreen.today, or open The Green app from Google Play.
2. Open the Game of the day and tap Play.
3. For your steps, install the app on your phone, sign in with the same account and tap Connect Apple Health or Connect Health Connect.
4. Once you have 100 greens, fund a bottle: it funds the removal of a plastic bottle from the ocean with our partner Greenspark, and takes a ticket in this month's draw.
5. Find your tickets in My tickets and the prizes in This month's prizes.

The monthly draw

• Free, no purchase necessary.
• 5 tickets a month at most, the same limit for everyone.
• You earn a ticket by funding a bottle (100 greens) or by finishing first of the day on a mini-game.
• A Pass, a purchase or a subscription never gives an extra ticket.
• The game officially starts on 1 November 2026; the first official draw is on 1 December 2026.

What it costs

Playing, walking, voting and the draw are free. With a YLC Pass, you can also post in the image contest and you get boost codes every month. A boost lasts 1 hour and multiplies your greens by ×1.25 to ×2 depending on your Pass. It helps you reach the daily limit sooner, never go past it, and never gives a ticket.

If it doesn't work

• "Access was refused." for your steps: grant it again from your phone's settings, the system won't ask a second time.
• "This phone cannot count steps": your phone or its health service doesn't allow it.
• "Today is already full, nothing more to collect.": you have your 20 greens for today, come back tomorrow.
• "Unknown code, or already used.": check the boost code.
• "The daily contest is for subscribers.": posting needs a Pass; everyone can look and vote.
• "You have all your tickets for this month": the same limit as everyone, see you next month.
